Shellharbour City Council is on the lookout for a new Chief Executive Officer after Mike Archer was sacked on Tuesday night.
Council held an extraordinary meeting to vote on a confidential report containing information that was "provided to Councillors concerning personnel matters concerning certain individuals (other than Councillors)".
After an hour of deliberations behind closed doors, it was announced that Archer's contract had been terminated.
According to the motion, Shellharbour Mayor Chris Homer was instructed to inform Archer in writing that his contract had been terminated with immediate effect.
Details of the reasons behind Archer's sacking were to remain confidential.
The former CEO had been on leave since the start of March following revelations that he was under investigation for inappropriate conduct at Council's Christmas Party.
Archer, 57, was accused of "drunken, lecherous behaviour" towards a staff member less than half his age at the Ocean Beach Hotel in Shellharbour after the initial function at The Links Shell Cove golf club.
He had joined Shellharbour Council in September 2022 after relocating from a similar role in Busselton, south of Perth.
