Fatal surf rescue at Shellharbour Beach

A married couple visiting from the United Kingdom have tragically died after being pulled from the water at Shellharbour Beach this morning (March 11).

Emergency services were called to Shellharbour Beach, Boollawarroo Parade, Shell Cove, at around 11:10 a.m. following reports that two people were struggling in the water.

Members of the public rushed to assist, pulling a 66-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman from the surf and commencing CPR.

NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived shortly after and took over life-saving efforts.

Despite their attempts, the man and woman could not be revived and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that a report will be prepared for the coroner as investigations into the incident continue.

This is a developing story. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
