Since selling papers on the trams of Kingsford in the 50’s I have focussed my career on developing businesses with a flair for the creative. Starting as a self-employed electrician I moved on to building and operating my own squash courts, golf driving range, aerial photography, printing and finally real estate businesses. Along the way I managed several organisations including a timber yard, Brickworks, even a regional managers role with a bank, I was CEO of Wollongong Chamber of Commerce for 10 years championing the cause of small business.
Being active within the community and giving back has always been high on my list of priorities, this year I celebrate 55 years as a member of Lions Club where I have been honoured to receive the Melvin Jones Fellow award for outstanding service to Lions International. I have been president of Kiama Lions and Jamberoo Bowling Club.
In 2016 I was awarded an Outstanding Service Award from the Department of Local Government having served 21 years as a member of Kiama Council 1983 – 1987 then 1999 – 2016 acting as deputy mayor from 2012 -2016.
As a sitting councillor I am proud to have been involved in bringing Blue Haven Bonarra from concept to a reality, securing the real estate in Akuna St and Terralong St giving council the opportunity to drive a shopping, arts, entertainment, and residential development that will redefine the centre of Kiama.
